Course Objectives

This course is targeted at professionals, managers, and executives, particularly those in Public Relations, Marcom, Social Media, Digital Marketing roles, to equip them with a set of skills to address the above-mentioned problems and the needs of the industry.

 

Some relevant job roles of the services industry are Social Media Executive / Manager, Digital Marketing Executive / Manager, Public Relations Executive / Manager.

Social media is used by billions of people around the world and has fast become one of the defining technologies of our time. Facebook, for example, reported having 2.38 billion monthly active users and 1.56 billion daily active users as of March 31, 2019 (Facebook 2019). Globally, the total number of social media users is estimated to grow to 3.29 billion users in 2022, which will be 42.3% of the world’s population (eMarketer 2018). Given the massive potential audience available who are spending many hours a day using social media across the various platforms, it is not surprising that marketers have embraced social media as a marketing channel.

The savviest businesses have already started relying exclusively on digital marketing in 2021. The reason is simple. We have entered the digital era firmly in 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced us into it. As such, this has made businesses transition to the digital model as well so they can survive. This rapid switch has also made them realize that going digital is productive and cost effective. Businesses will continue to capitalize on this trend in the upcoming years. Furthermore, digital marketing resonates with the young generation which forms the bulk of a business’ client/customer base.

As such, keeping up with new changes on the various social media platforms is essential to staying ahead on social media.

  1. Minimum GCE ‘N’ Level and/or able to read, write, listen and speak of English to a  proficiency level equivalent to Employability Skills System Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 6; and count to a proficiency level equivalent to Employability Skills System Workplace Numeracy (WPN) Level 6.

  2. Able to operate a personal desktop computer/laptop with Level 3 Intermediate Computing and Applications.
